The site is well placed for visiting many of Yorkshire’s attractions, including the shops and museums of Leeds and Bradford, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Saltaire and the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Located in the Yorkshire village of Esholt, five miles north of Bradford and 11 miles west of Leeds, the beautiful Yorkshire Dales are within easy reach as are the market towns of Otley, Ilkley (the gateway to the Dales) and Skipton. Make our site your base camp for exploring the heart of West Yorkshire’s urban areas and countryside, or simply enjoy a peaceful break in the Aire valley.

Esholt village which found found fame as the original setting of the popular ITV soap Emmerdale is just a 2 minute walk up the road. Enjoy a pint at the original Woolpack and explore the original Emmerdale village.

A couple of miles away is the famous village of Saltaire. Built in the Italianate style, this World Heritage Site offers a lovely park and is home to Salts Mill which houses a big collection of works by David Hockney.

Bingley Five-rise lock staircase is the most spectacular feature of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. It is situated about half a mile north of Bingley Station, about 17 miles north west of Leeds.

One of the best ways to explore our district is by bike or on foot. Renowned for rolling hills and rugged moorland, the region is a paradise for walkers and cyclists of all abilities. Both are welcome at towns throughout the district. There are lots of walks for all abilities including long distance walks or you can simply enjoy the peace and tranquility as you stroll or cycle along the local canal towpaths. Baildon, Bingley, Burley in Wharfedale and Ilkley are all ideal starting points, or for those wishing to travel further why not visit the Yorkshire Dales?

Golf

Within a few minutes drive are Hollins Hall Marriott Hotel & Country Club, an 18-hole championship golf course which provides challenging play and breathtaking scenery and Bradford Golf Club, one of the oldest in Yorkshire, a moorland links which commands stunning views over Baildon and Rombald Moors. At the end of Esholt Lane is Ghyll Beck Driving Range, they have a great restaurant too.

Cities

Anyone who is missing city life can visit the great northern cities of Leeds and Bradford. Both offer a fabulous array of shopping and entertainment facilities.

Supplies

The local towns of Baildon, Guiseley and Shipley offer supermarkets, local shops and plenty of public houses, restaurants and takeaways. All have train stations offering easy access to Bradford and Leeds.
